Prospect League Statement

Quincy, IL – Due to the ongoing government regulations surrounding Covid-19, the Prospect League has voted to cancel the 2020 season. The Quincy Gems are disappointed, and were excited to give fans a fun and safe experience during these trying times.

“Unfortunately these are the cards we have been dealt,” said Gems Owner and General Manager Jimmie Louthan. “We were very excited about changes we had made over the offseason and new ideas that were brought in with those changes. All of our players lost their college seasons. We were happy to provide closure for those players whose careers came to an abrupt end. We were also eager to provide a fun atmosphere for players that needed repetitions to move on to the next level.”

Although this is not the decision we had hoped for, we will still work just as hard to create a great experience for all Gems fans in 2021.
